Before you apply
- A résumé, attached when you register
- WSIB clearance and liability insurance are a plus — bring them if you have them; both are needed before you are sent on an abatement site
- A driver's licence and your own vehicle are a plus
- Sub work: you invoice Safeway per job, you are not an employee
- At least a year on demolition, abatement or restoration sites
- Comfortable in a respirator and full PPE
- Type 3 asbestos training (O. Reg. 278/05) to be on abatement jobs; without it you are on demolition and clean-up
The work
Strip-outs and selective demolition, loading bins, setting up and taking down containment, and leaving a site clean enough to hand back. Some days are a basement; some are a school corridor at night.
You work under Safeway's lead on each job. The hourly rate is the one posted here, agreed before you start, and you invoice Safeway when the job is done.
