Sub work · how it works
Register once. Quote the work we send you.
Five things worth knowing before you register, and the one offer the owner has made for the first six months.
01
It is all sub work
Safeway does not hire trades as employees through this board. Labouring roles pay the hourly rate on the posting; trade roles are priced per job — the scope comes to you, you quote it, and once agreed that is the price. Either way you invoice Safeway when the job is done, on your own WSIB and insurance.
02
The pay is on every posting
A role names its rate or says plainly that you quote it. Nothing here asks you to apply first and find out the number later.
03
Register once; that is your application
Your trades, years on the tools, area, rate, availability, your résumé and five to ten photos of your work — and your WSIB and insurance if you have them. Put your name in for any role on the board from the same registration.
04
The owner reads every registration himself
Nothing is switched on until he has read your résumé and looked at your photos. You hear either way at the email you gave. Reported tickets, WSIB and insurance stay marked unverified until the office has seen the paper, and both certificates are needed before you are sent on an abatement site.
05
Approved means you are in the network
You get a sign-in for Safeway Command: jobs posted to the network, check in and out from your phone, your days logged, your invoice to Safeway from the same place. Bid requests in your trades come to you by email and text. You sign the subcontractor agreement and the site rules before your first job.
What you need
- • A résumé, attached when you register
- • WSIB clearance and liability insurance are a plus — bring them if you have them; both are needed before you are sent on an abatement site
- • A driver's licence and your own vehicle are a plus
- • Sub work: you invoice Safeway per job, you are not an employee
- • Experience in your trade, and five to ten photos of your work
Free until 3 May 2027
Registration is free until 3 May 2027. Anyone registered by then is grandfathered in and keeps receiving Safeway's bid requests at no cost after it.
