A school floor, tile by tile

Floor tile in older institutional buildings is one of the most common places asbestos still turns up. It is usually stable while it is intact — the problem starts when somebody lifts it.

This one came up over a weekend so the building could be handed back before staff returned. Full enclosure, tile off, subfloor swept and cleared.

The two photos are the same room from the same spot, before and after. Not a different room made to look like a transformation — the same floor, later in the day.
